Mitis Salivarius Agar is used in conjunction with 1% Tellurite solution for isolating Streptococcus mitis, S. salivarius and enterococci from contaminated specimens. These organisms are commonly found in the flora of the oral cavity. Each lot of media from MOLTOX is tested for sterility, where applicable, and its ability to support the growth of the appropriate microorganism. All media are accompanied by GLP-compliant formulation and Quality Control certificate.

Yeast Nitrogen Base (YNB) media have been prepared according the formulae of Wickerham (1943-51) and Burkholder (1943). YNB is a well defined composition of salts, vitamins, amino acids and a nitrogen source for a vigorous growth of Sacharomyces cerevisiae. Y2030 has the same formulation as YNB without Amino Acids except that ammonium sulfate as a source of nitrogen has been omitted to test the ability of yeast cells to assimilate different nitrogen sources (i.e. Potassium Nitrate). Application: For carbon assimilation tests in the characterization and identification of yeasts. Note: The addition of a carbon source like glucose, galactose or raffinose is required.

Dissolve 25 grams in 1 liter distilled water and adjust the pH to 7.2. Heat and frequently agitate to completely dissolve. Sterilize by autoclaving for 15 minutes. Material specially granulated to reduce dust and increase solubility rate.
